Research - Saw (film)

We decided to research the film Saw as it gave us our main inspiration. The basic plot of Saw follows the life of a man through different sequels torturing and giving last chances to people who have abused life. He does this because he wants to teach them the meaning of life itself.

'The franchise revolves around the fictional character of John Kramer, also called the "Jigsaw Killer" or simply "Jigsaw", introduced briefly in Saw and in more detail in Saw II, who, rather than killing his victims outright, traps them in situations which he calls "tests" or "games", to test their will to live via physical or psychological torture. Despite the fact that Kramer was murdered in Saw III, the films continue to focus on the posthumous effects of the Jigsaw Killer and his apprentices by exploring his character via flashbacks.'

Our film is similar to the Saw sequels as it does revolve around a character like the "Jigsaw Killer" however it is not just one character there are a group of circus freaks who want to teach society a lesson.

'Flashbacks from Saw IV reveal the earliest roots of the series, presenting John Kramer as a successful civil engineer and devoted husband to his wife Jill Tuck, who opened a rehab clinic for drug addicts. Jill lost her unborn baby, Gideon, due to the unwitting actions of a drug addict named Cecil, who fled the scene. Saw VI later showed that another drug addict, Amanda Young, also had an unintentional role in the death of Gideon. John grieved over the loss of his child, and distanced himself from his friends and his wife.'

Like in this part of the film we will also show the upbringing of our villain showing his psychological change through his life. We will show his treatment at home, school and by society and how this contributes to make him a savaged man.

The difference between our film and the Saw films is that we're not using specific people to teach a lesson but by using one person to reflect on the whole of society, this is shown through the mediums of flashback, present day and looks on the future and how corrupt it would be if people carried on treating people in a discriminative way.
